This is a short horror game that I developed for Fantasy Console Game Jam #3 using the Pico-8 fantasy console. This game is not suited for children or those who are easily disturbed.

Controls:

- Directional keys: move around

- Z: progress through menus

Objective:

The objective of this game is to move around a desolated town and touch certain magic pillars. When you touch the pillars (it's a little finicky, so try to move around them a bit), a streetlight will come on near a lighthouse to signify your progress. You must light all six streetlights, at which point the lighthouse will light up. Touch the light of the lighthouse to complete the game.

Tips:

- Enemies will spawn in after lighting a few streetlights, so do your best to avoid them, as one touch will kill you.

- A pillar is only good to touch if green runes adorn its entire surface and it's only three blocks tall. Other pillars are there to distract you.

- Fog will come into the game after the first minute, obscuring the screen and making your journey more difficult. The fog will grow worse the farther into the game you get.

- You can walk behind pillars, trees, etc. Only their bases can obstruct your (or an enemy's) movement.

Good stuff. Really quite effectively creepy for such a simple game. I think the music does it and the sort of abstract tone. Liking the blood splattered white trees. I liked the baddies. I couldn't work out what they were, which actually lent to their creepiness even more.

Screen savers in Windows are awesome features, that have been there for ages. Screen savers were primarily invented to reduce the burden on the computer screen as the screens at that time were inefficient and could easily get heated up with prolonged use. Screen savers reduce the burden by making the screen go dark and display a custom or built-in design, that will give the user an indication that the screen is still on but is in the screen saver mode. The designs built-in in the screen saver can be mesmerizing and can be cool to look at. They greatly improved the lifetime of computer monitors and reduced electricity consumption. With screen savers activated, the users can do other jobs and return to the work on the computers where they left, without losing any progress.

Screen savers were prominently used as the sleep or the hibernate modes were not there or were inefficient. Screen savers served as a pseudo-substitute to these features back in those days. In this modern world with flat LED and LCD monitors, screen savers are not necessary as you can turn off your monitor with the button and this feature is available in some of the recent laptops too, switching off the monitor is, even more, energy-efficient and serves the purpose perfectly. bu t still people who are accustomed to using screen savers can opt-in for the feature from the settings panel.

Mostly all the windows OS comes with an option to turn on the screen saver mode. You can easily turn on the function and customize it with different settings and modes with just a few clicks. You can add custom screen savers with the customization feature and make your screen saver look cooler. There have been many updates and changes done to the screen savers to improve the power conserving efficiency and render a clean screen saver feature. Microsoft had changed the designs of the screen savers to optimize the functions.

Windows 10 comes with very simple screen savers modes that you can access easily from the settings panel. The screen saver modes are very simple and are not very much customizable. Windows 10 comes with 6 screen saver modes with 2 of them with a customization feature. You can customize the settings to make the screen saver look the way you want and feel.

How to Set-up Screen Savers in Windows 10 OS

Setting up the screen saver in Windows 10 OS is pretty simple. You just need to follow these steps to enable the screen saver on Windows 10 OS:

• Open up your settings panel.
• From the settings panel, select the personalization tab.
• From the personalization tab, select the lock screen option from the left pane.
• Once in the lock screen option, navigate down to the bottom and find the option stating screen saver settings, click the option.
• You will get a separate window with the options for switching on the screen saver mode and select from the list of design features provided by Microsoft.
• You can customize the designs and make the screen saver look better.
• You need to select one of the modes from the list.
• You can set the inactivity timing by changing the number near the wait option and set up a suitable time, to activate the screen saver.
• You can tickmark the on-resume, display logon screen option to lock your display when the screen saver activates.
• Once you have selected the required screen saver mode from the dropdown menu and set-up the inactivity time, you can apply the settings by clicking the apply option.
• Now press the ok option to make confirm the settings.

• You can switch off the screen saver anytime you want, you just need to navigate to the screen saver settings and need to select none from the dropdown menu and hit apply and Ok.

NOTE: You can directly search for the screen saver on the search bar, from the taskbar at the bottom of the display. You will be directed into the screen saver windows, from where you can choose the perfect screen saver for your computer.

Screen savers were solely invented for the robust cathode-ray-tube computer monitors, which were inefficient, power-consuming and gets heated up quickly. To reduce the heating up problem screen savers were used and these were really beneficial and served the purpose pretty nicely in reducing the heat and reducing the power consumption of the monitor. With the recent LCD and LED monitors, which are very power efficient and can run for prolonged hours without heating up needs no screen saver, yet people who like to set-up the screen saver can obviously use the built-in screen saver feature in the Windows OS. there are many efficient options like switching off the screen or monitor, putting the computer in sleep or hibernation mode, these will temporarily stop the functioning of the computer without erasing the RAM and the user can continue to work from where they left.
