Klangwelt Mac OS
Hi there,
Please, don't bomb me with 'read or search the forums before posting' mails, I really tried to look for answers but it seems that every topic ends in a silence - is there a big brother deleting stuff? However, I noticed that about one year ago people had exactly the same problems, namely:
b) Very poor USB Stick combatibility as well (I tried 12 different, then found the first one I ever bought - and that worked. I couldn't even format them, instead I got an 'Unknown System Error!'). All tested sticks were 256 Mb-4 Gb, of different brands.
c) midi/usb timing sucks big time, I mean: receiving midi clock causes artifacts, a LOT.
d) I tried to save system preferences via pressing EXIT in the lower end of the screen - and then after answering 'yes' to a question 'System Write - Are you sure?' I got 'System Write Error'. Wow.
It seems that everybody that got kicked out from Nokia or Microsoft are now destroying Roland's software/UI development.
Particularily the 'c' is bothering me. I started with a plain sawtooth patch, without pitch modulation or filter/amp modulation, put on a 1/4th Delay and pressed play on my computer (running Logic) - the result: delay is 'drunk', causing enormous chorusing due to delay time jitter. Comparing to my XT this is chaotic. Exactly identical patch on XT (one osc, no COSM, just delay) is stable, whereas in GT there's all sorts of funny artifacts. Even arpeggiator is stumbling.
Hey, anyone? Any help? No known firmware updates here? My GT is v.1.0.3 and heard that update 'is coming in January' - which probably means it's announced then and us poor owners need to stand still until - what, June? (NAMM means - to my knowledge - Not Available Maybe May.)
I don't think I or none of us should be the one debugging, at least after more than one year after release. This shit should be done at the factory and not at the expense of an end user, taking off hours from real work. Boo-hoo. I know, none of my rants cause waves in a big pond.
